We are all winners!

3 years ago, cancer took my father away. This is by far, the hardest thing I ever had to go through. My father’s death changed my focus on what truly matters in life. I started to see beauty everywhere around me, in the smallest things - plants starting to bud, cocooning butterflies, the exact color blue of the sky.
I realized that there is no promise of tomorrow. You are given such a small time, and you never know when your time will run out. Many people don’t truly appreciate this. So treasure your life, make it worthwhile. Spend your life doing things that make you happy because you may not have the chance later. Always take opportunities to spend as much time with those you love as you possibly can. Appreciate all they mean to you and never, ever stop showing them how much you love them.
My dad lived graciously and courageously with it until the very end. In many, many ways, by inspiring me, he is a winner. He was a wonderful role model right to the end.
I’m running the OMV Petrom Bucharest Half Marathon in his memory. I am sure he can see me and I want him to be proud of “his little girl”. I want to inspire and encourage more cancer patients to think positively, to live an active life, a life of no regrets. To all cancer patients out there, don’t give up hope, because when there’s hope, you have already won half the battle!
Please run along with me in making your steps count for those in the cancer journey. If you can donate to this cause, I’ll be eternally grateful and you will feel great knowing that you’re helping. No one should fight cancer alone.
With love and gratitude,
Camelia
